St. Charles Parish School Wellness Policy

5.95 WELLNESS POLICY

The St. Charles Parish Public School System is committed to the development of lifelong wellness practices. Therefore, it is the policy of the Board that this will be accomplished through the achievement of the following goals:

  • Child Nutrition Programs comply with federal, state and local requirements. Child Nutrition Programs are accessible to all children.
  • Foods and beverages made available on campus (including vending, concessions, a la carte, student stores, parties) during the school day are consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
  • Foods made available on campus adhere to food safety and security guidelines.
  • The school environment is safe, comfortable, pleasing, and allows time and space for eating meals.
  • Nutrition education is provided and promoted.
  • Students in grades PK-12 have opportunities, support and encouragement to be physically active on a regular basis.
