A New Weekly Public TV Series Celebrates Nation's Agriculture

America’s Heartland is a new weekly public television series that celebrates our nation’s agriculture. Profiling the people, places and processes of today’s agribusiness, the series taps into—and strengthens—the ties that bind us: the love of our land and the respect for the people who live on and from it; a national fascination with food; curiosity about unfamiliar places and ways of life; and the bedrock American values of family, hard work and the spirit of independence.

Each half-hour, magazine-style program is shot entirely on location in digital widescreen format and includes from four to six feature segments presented by a host. The inaugural season of the series will consist of 20 original programs and will premiere the first week of September 2005. America’s Heartland will be distributed to more than 300 public television stations in America, and we project that the first season will be available in markets totaling more than 60% of the nation’s households.

Presentation of America’s Heartland is made possible by a strong partnership among Monsanto Company, the American Farm Bureau Federation, and other U.S. agricultural groups that have come together to sponsor a ground-breaking series that will raise awareness of the significant contribution American agriculture makes to the quality of life here and abroad. The series will help viewers to understand our farms and ranches, the people who work them and the products they provide.
